MS Unveils New Features at Build Event: "AI Will Make and Execute Decisions on Its Own"

Development of Agents and AI Models Now Possible
Supporting Enhanced Organizational Productivity

"Artificial intelligence (AI) is evolving into an agent that learns and makes decisions on its own."

On May 20 (local time), Microsoft (MS) held its annual developer event, 'Microsoft Build 2025,' in Seattle, USA, where it announced a variety of new AI features and major updates.

MS Unveils New Features at Build Event: "AI Will Make and Execute Decisions on Its Own"

MS defined the internet environment in which AI agents operate across individuals, organizations, teams, and entire businesses as the 'Open Agentic Web,' emphasizing that the era has arrived in which AI makes decisions and takes actions on behalf of users and organizations.

More than 230,000 organizations, including 90% of the Fortune 500, are developing AI agents and automation applications through 'Copilot Studio.'

In addition, approximately 15 million developers worldwide are streamlining the entire development process?including code writing, review, deployment, and debugging?using 'GitHub Copilot.' The latest update to GitHub Copilot adds prompt management, lightweight evaluation, and enterprise control features, enabling experimentation with a variety of AI models.

'Windows AI Foundry' was also newly unveiled. Windows AI Foundry provides an integrated and reliable platform that supports the entire AI developer lifecycle, from training to inference.

Through this, developers can utilize simple model APIs specialized for visual and language tasks to run open-source large language models (LLMs) in the Foundry's local environment, or import their own custom-developed models, convert and fine-tune them, and then deploy them to client or cloud environments.

New features were also introduced to support safer and more efficient development and deployment of AI agents. This update consists of pre-built agents, custom agent design tools, multi-agent capabilities, and new models, helping developers and organizations build AI agents more flexibly and enhance productivity.

MS also introduced 'Microsoft Discovery,' an AI agent-based platform designed to accelerate scientific research. This platform enables researchers to leverage AI agents to innovate the entire process of scientific discovery. MS expects that, through this, research and development departments in various industries such as pharmaceuticals and the environment will be able to shorten new product launch cycles and expand both the speed and scope of research overall.

The event will run for three days until May 22, and detailed information about the keynote and main sessions can be found on the official website.
