Listening to Challenges in the Seafood Industry Through the 'Jungjinkong On-site Communication Program'
On May 20, Jungjinkong announced that Chairman Kang Seokjin visited the Ocheon Industrial Complex in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, and conducted the 'Jungjinkong On-site Communication Program.' This visit was organized to proactively identify the challenges faced by small and medium-sized venture enterprises, quickly provide necessary policy information, and support the strengthening of competitiveness in the domestic seafood industry.
The on-site communication event was attended by about 10 stakeholders, including Chairman Kang, Kim Gabon, head of the Yeosu Food Processing Cooperative and CEO of Gukbo Susan, and six representatives from companies located in the Ocheon Industrial Complex. They held in-depth discussions on topics such as guidance on Jungjinkong's support projects for 2025, strategies to boost exports of domestic seafood products, and support measures to address local employment and recruitment challenges.
In particular, the participating companies shared that they are currently experiencing difficulties in securing raw materials due to the recent surge in seafood prices caused by rising sea temperatures. In response, Jungjinkong introduced support programs such as policy funds and export vouchers, and provided tailored support solutions.
After the roundtable, the group visited the Araeum facility, a resident company of the Ocheon Industrial Complex, to listen to on-site opinions on adding high value to seafood products. Araeum is a seafood fried food processing company that is expanding its presence in both domestic and international markets based on its unique manufacturing technology, which allows its products to remain crispy even at room temperature.
Chairman Kang stated, "The domestic seafood industry must pioneer new markets with innovation technology, eco-friendly processes, and global distribution as its key strategies," adding, "Jungjinkong will do its utmost to achieve the shared goal of revitalizing the seafood industry and promoting the co-growth of the local economy."
