Donation of 2.4 Million Won to the Hometown Love Fund
Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on May 20 that it had carried out a mutual cross-donation under the Hometown Love Donation Program among public officials in collaboration with Geochang County.
This donation was organized to uphold the purpose of the Hometown Love Donation Program and to jointly revitalize the economies of both regions. A total of 48 public officials, 24 each from Hapcheon County and Geochang County, participated voluntarily, donating 2.4 million won per county, for a total of 4.8 million won.
In February of this year, staff members from the forestry departments of both local governments also conducted a cross-donation, and this time, participation was expanded to all departments. This is significant in that it demonstrates a continued effort to foster warmth and cooperation among neighboring communities across all administrative sectors.

This case, in which public officials from two neighboring counties joined forces, is regarded as an exemplary practice of solidarity and mutual growth that transcends administrative boundaries. In particular, it is expected that the leadership shown by public officials will help spread a culture of donation and increase resident participation.
The two institutions plan to continue close cooperation in the future, using this cross-donation as an opportunity. Both local governments intend to encourage various donation activities that residents as well as public officials can participate in, and will actively seek ways to ensure that donations are used in ways that provide tangible benefits to the local community.
Meanwhile, the Hometown Love Donation Program is a system in which individuals can donate up to 20 million won per year to a local government outside their registered address, receiving a tax deduction and up to 30% in return gifts (such as local specialties and Hapcheon Love gift certificates). Donations up to 100,000 won are fully tax-deductible, while amounts exceeding 100,000 won receive a 16.5% deduction.
In addition, Hapcheon County offers benefits such as free or discounted admission and usage fees at county-operated facilities by issuing the Hapcheon Affection Certificate.
