Recruiting 16 Youth Participants Until the 29th of This Month

Gangseo District in Seoul is recruiting participants for the "11th Gangseo District-Zhaoyuan City Youth Exchange Program" to mark the summer vacation. This exchange program is being resumed for the first time in six years since 2019, and is expected to provide local youth with a unique opportunity to develop into global talents.

The recruitment is open to 16 students (eight boys and eight girls) from first-year middle school to first-year high school who are registered residents of Gangseo District and have no restrictions on overseas travel. Students and parents wishing to participate must visit the district office in person by May 29 to submit the required documents, including the application form, a letter of recommendation from the school principal, and a copy of the resident registration. Participants will be selected through a document review, an interview, and a public lottery.

The selected youth exchange group will visit Zhaoyuan City in Shandong Province, China, for six days and five nights from July 23 to 28. During their stay, they will participate in a homestay with local families, interact with Zhaoyuan youth, and take part in various cultural and historical experience programs, including visits to local attractions such as the Gold Museum, the Gold Smelting Site, and Longwang Lake Park. Participants are responsible for some costs, including airfare and travel insurance. Four accompanying public officials will join the trip to ensure the safety of the students.

Zhaoyuan City is the largest gold-producing region in China and is known as the "Gold Capital of China." The city boasts abundant tourism resources and local specialties. The students selected for this year's exchange will host Zhaoyuan youth for homestays and tour local attractions together when the Zhaoyuan City youth exchange group visits Gangseo District next summer, continuing the mutual cultural exchange.

Jin Kyohun, Mayor of Gangseo District, stated, "This will be a valuable opportunity for our youth, who will lead the future, to directly experience foreign cultures and broaden their international perspectives. I hope this exchange will serve as a stepping stone for them to grow into global talents."

Meanwhile, Gangseo District and Zhaoyuan City have maintained exchanges in various fields, including economy, trade, and investment attraction, since forming a sister-city relationship in 1998. The youth exchange program serves as an important channel for the next generation of both cities to meet, build friendships, and gain a broader understanding of the world.
