Gaining Attention as an Eco-Friendly Solution

Asia Cement is expanding its production facilities for the next-generation premixed cement, 'GPC (Green Premixed Cement)'. The company plans to accelerate the commercialization of this new product, targeting the eco-friendly and functional cement market.

On May 19, Asia Cement announced that it is increasing the capacity of its dedicated GPC production facilities, which were established this year at its Jecheon plant in North Chungcheong Province. Depending on future market response, Asia Cement also plans to gradually expand its product lineup and advance its technology.

GPC is a functional premixed cement in which functional materials are pre-blended with traditional Portland cement, allowing the desired concrete performance to be achieved. It is attracting attention as an eco-friendly solution that improves construction quality while reducing cement usage in today's construction environment, where various properties such as high strength, ultra-low heat, low heat, and high fluidity are required.

Unlike conventional cement, which required separate mixing of cement and admixtures at construction sites?often resulting in quality variations?GPC is uniformly blended at the factory, making it easy to use on-site and ensuring consistent quality.

In addition, Asia Cement has developed and launched a carbon-reducing product called 'Ecoment', based on GPC technology. Ecoment is a carbon-reducing concrete admixture that addresses the issue of initial strength reduction of cement in low-temperature environments. It can replace up to 30% of cement while delivering equal or superior performance compared to ordinary cement. The key lies in the optimal combination of initial strength activators and rapid-hardening enhancers.

An Asia Cement representative stated, "We plan to continue developing a diverse range of GPC products with various functionalities, such as ultra-high strength and early strength types, to proactively respond to the changing demands of the construction market." The representative added, "We will continue technical consultations with clients based on GPC products co-developed with construction companies and further strengthen customized sales activities to meet customer demand."
