This county-wide rally was organized to convey the earnest wishes of the residents to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Korea Development Institute (KDI) ahead of the announcement of the Jeonggwan Line preliminary feasibility study results scheduled for June. Approximately 3,000 residents attended the event, expressing a strong determination for the construction of the Jeonggwan Line.
During the event, County Governor Jung Jongbok, National Assembly member Jung Dongman, and County Council Chairman Park Hongbok each delivered the joint statement in turn, emphasizing the necessity of establishing the Jeonggwan Line.

When the call "Approval for the Urban Railway Jeonggwan Line Feasibility Study!" was made, the residents responded in unison, shouting "We urge it! We urge it! We urge it!" adding to the fervor of the rally.
National Assembly member Jung Dongman stated, "Although Gijang County has developed into a self-sufficient city through continuous urban development, transportation conditions remain poor," and stressed, "The Jeonggwan Line must pass the feasibility study as it is a key transportation network connecting Busan Line 1, Donghae Line, and the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Metropolitan Railway."
County Council Chairman Park Hongbok also said, "The population of Gijang County is declining, and the local commercial district is shrinking," adding, "Construction of the Jeonggwan Line is urgently needed to improve regional accessibility, prevent population outflow, and revitalize the local economy."
County Governor Jung Jongbok asserted, "The Jeonggwan Line will be connected to the Radiation Oncology Science Industrial Complex, the Heavy Ion Therapy Center, and large shopping malls, playing a key role in the development of strategic industries in the southeastern region," and emphasized, "It must be constructed for the future of Gijang County."
Residents who attended the event also said, "It is absolutely necessary to improve the transportation environment in Gijang County," and voiced their hope that the feasibility study will be approved this time.
The Urban Railway Jeonggwan Line is a route that will connect Jwacheon Station on the Donghae Line with the Wolpyeong area in Jeonggwan-eup. In the future, it is expected to serve as a branch line linking the Donghae Line and the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Metropolitan Railway, greatly contributing to the improvement of the residential environment and balanced development of Gijang County.
