Offering Attractions Such as Busking, Traditional Korean Music, and Dance
Jeonju City, North Jeolla Province, announced on May 19 that the 'Jeonju First Greeting Festa,' featuring a combination of a flea market and cultural performances, will be held at the Fountain Square on First Greeting-gil on May 24.
This event, jointly organized by six private organizations, will have cultural performances and the flea market operated separately in different spaces.
Various genres of performances will take place on the stage, while the flea market will be held simultaneously in the square, transforming the entire street into a festival venue.
First, on the cultural performance stage, local artists will participate and present a wide range of attractions, including busking, Korean traditional music, dance, and band performances, allowing visitors to enjoy high-quality shows in the heart of the city.
In addition, a flea market will be held in the square surrounding the stage, with participation from local small business owners, young entrepreneurs, and handicraft artists. The flea market will offer a diverse selection of handmade goods, eco-friendly household items, and simple snacks, providing visitors with the enjoyment of both 'things to see' and 'things to eat.'
In this regard, First Greeting-gil is the place that tourists and citizens encounter first when arriving at Jeonju Station by train. It has been developed as an ecological cultural street and a premium tree-lined boulevard, offering the first impression and memories of Jeonju.
The city expects that this event will not only present an urban festival in which both local residents and tourists can participate, but will also inject practical vitality into the local commercial district.
Kim Moonki, Director of Urban Infrastructure Development at Jeonju City, said, "We have prepared this event so that First Greeting-gil can become more than just a walking space and be reborn as an open cultural space where everyone wants to enjoy and stay. We hope that citizens and visitors alike will have an enjoyable and meaningful time in this complex cultural space where various performances and experiences come together."
