IT Eyes Establishes Bio-Life Science Research Center
JS Link and C&R Research Set to Move In
Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital is rapidly emerging as a key hub for precision medicine and the digital healthcare industry.
According to Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital on May 19, IT Eyes Co., Ltd., a leading company specializing in financial IT and healthcare solutions, has recently formalized the establishment of a bio-life science research center at the hospital's Future Medical Innovation Center. In addition, JS Link Co., Ltd. and C&R Research Co., Ltd. have completed the process of setting up their subsidiaries and are preparing to move in.
IT Eyes, a KOSDAQ-listed company, is focusing on Real World Data (RWD) generated in clinical settings and Real World Evidence (RWE), which derives scientific evidence from such data. The company has established a collaborative research base in Hwasun that integrates various digital technologies centered on precision bio data such as genomics and omics.
This is attracting attention as a convergence model for precision medicine and the bio industry. IT Eyes plans to accelerate the creation of a precision medicine ecosystem, with the Future Medical Innovation Center at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital as its core.
Furthermore, JS Link and C&R Research, both KOSDAQ-listed companies preparing to move in, plan to collaborate with the hospital in the fields of AI-based new drug development, digital clinical trials, and empirical research on bio data. They will also establish a practical linkage platform connecting the medical, industrial, and academic sectors.
IT Eyes, which is a key partner in the hospital's medical MyData "Health Information Expressway (MyHealthWay System)" project, will work together with JS Link and C&R Research to digitize the bio data dispersed throughout Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital. They plan to establish the nation's first digital bio bank portal system.
Hwasun, Jeollanam-do, where the hospital is located, has been designated as a "National Advanced Strategic Industry Specialized Complex," providing optimal conditions as a forward base for precision medicine and the bio industry. The Future Medical Innovation Center is rapidly growing as a practical digital bio ecosystem hub, leveraging this geographical advantage to foster collaboration among private companies, medical institutions, and research organizations.
In addition, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has recently been selected as a core participating institution in the "K-Biohealth Regional Center Support Project," promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, and organized by the Jeonnam Bioindustry Foundation. The main objective of this project is to establish a comprehensive support system for the entire biohealth cycle, from discovering start-ups to technology development, clinical trials, certification, and testing and evaluation.
Through these efforts, Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital is further solidifying its foundation to realize its vision of becoming "the center of cancer treatment and research in Asia." The development of a global cooperation model and high value-added bio new drug development, in connection with the Future Medical Innovation Center, is expected to accelerate.
Kim Hyungseok, Director of the Biomedical Research Institute, emphasized, "The convergence of medical data and advanced ICT is the core competitiveness of the biohealthcare industry," adding, "Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital will grow into the center of 'Bio-AI' convergence research, which is at the heart of the K-initiative, and will lead the future of Korea's bio industry."
