Yangsan City Creates Flower Gardens to Celebrate 2026 'Yangsan Visit Year'

Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province is developing riverside trails, including Hwangsan Park and the Yangsan Stream area, covering a total of 19.8 hectares, into gardens featuring a variety of herbaceous plants and wildflowers. This initiative, which began this year, is part of the city's efforts to transform Yangsan into a year-round tourist destination in celebration of the 2026 Yangsan Visit Year.

This summer, visitors can enjoy verbena, buckwheat, and sunflowers. Around the chrysanthemum festival in October and November, more than 60,000 chrysanthemum displays, along with cosmos, Kochia, and zinnias, will be showcased. In the second half of next year, visitors will also be able to see clusters of Lycoris and red spider lilies in bloom.

Additionally, the city is planting mixed petunias in white, purple, and pink on urban bridges, underpasses, and streetlights, creating a vibrant and exotic cityscape unlike before.

During the summer, flowers such as angelonia, marigold, sunpatiens, cockscomb, and Madagascar periwinkle will fill planters and flower beds throughout Yangsan. In autumn, seasonal flowers such as melampodium, globe amaranth, and impatiens will spread floral scents across the city.

An official from Yangsan City stated, "We hope to offer citizens beautiful scenery throughout the seasons and increase visitor satisfaction by diversifying the types of flowers. We also wish that seasonal flowers will add beauty to daily life and bring happiness to everyone."
