Six Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospitals Nationwide Obtain Third Cycle Medical Institution Accreditation from Ministry of Health and Welfare

This accreditation is the result of a re-evaluation of six Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospitals nationwide whose previous accreditation period had expired. Following the second cycle accreditation in 2021, they have obtained accreditation consecutively. The accreditation will remain valid for four years, from April 2025 to April 2029.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare's medical institution accreditation system is implemented for medical institutions at the hospital level or higher, with the goal of improving patient safety and the quality of medical services. It evaluates the overall capabilities of medical institutions through a combination of a document review, based on data from the year prior to the survey, and a thorough on-site assessment. Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospitals underwent a comprehensive evaluation in approximately 250 areas, including the safety of herbal medicine preparation and administration, the safety of acupuncture and pharmacopuncture procedures, infection control systems, protection of patient rights, facility and environmental management, as well as management and organizational operations.

Medical institutions that obtain accreditation are allowed to use the accreditation mark during the four-year validity period, and related information can also be found on the website of the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Currently, out of 21 Korean medicine hospitals nationwide accredited by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, 15 are Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospitals.

Park Byungmo, Chairman of Jaseng Medical Foundation, stated, "This accreditation is the result of our efforts to provide safe and reliable Korean medicine treatment services," adding, "Going forward, all medical staff and employees at Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospitals nationwide will continue to work together to enhance the quality of medical services and do our utmost to contribute to the improvement of public health."
