Suwon Mayor Lee Jaejun Joins Public Officials' Reading Club 'Doksugongbang'

Suwon Mayor Lee Jaejun is participating in a reading club called 'Doksugongbang', where he reads books and shares thoughts with public officials.

'Doksugongbang' is an abbreviation for 'a cozy space where people gather on reading Wednesdays to share and empathize with each other's thoughts and feelings through books, and build knowledge together.' The club held its first meeting on the 14th.

From now until July 9, Doksugongbang will meet every other Wednesday for a total of five sessions. About 10 public officials, including Mayor Lee Jaejun, will read books together and discuss creative ideas for city administration.

At the first meeting on the 14th, Doksugongbang discussed a variety of topics related to city governance, including changes in the international situation, the impact on South Korea, and policy directions for the younger generation, all based on the book 'Trump 2.0 Era' by author Park Jonghun.

One public official who participated in the reading club said, "It was meaningful to be able to freely discuss a common topic as individuals, regardless of rank. I am glad I joined the reading club, and I look forward to future meetings."

Mayor Lee Jaejun stated, "Just by reading a book together, the barriers between public officials can be broken down, and we can share wisdom that will help guide our city in a better direction. I hope the public officials' reading club will become a healthy part of our organizational culture, not just a one-time event, and serve as a catalyst for change in the public sector."

Suwon City plans to purchase books used in the reading club from local bookstores and use local bookstores as venues for the meetings, in order to revitalize the local economy and promote a culture of reading.
