Gwangsan District in Gwangju Launches Joint Fire Damage Survey with Kumho Tire

Gwangsan District in Gwangju, together with Kumho Tire, is conducting a survey to assess the damage suffered by local residents due to the fire at the Gwangju plant.

According to Gwangsan District on the 19th, the district decided to launch a joint investigation with Kumho Tire after consultations held the previous day, as the fire suppression efforts were nearing completion. The purpose is to promptly identify the extent of damage to nearby residents.

Applications for the survey will be accepted starting today at the reception desk set up on the first floor of Songjeong Health Center. The reception will operate every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., including Saturdays and Sundays, for a total of 10 days. This survey is a preliminary procedure for calculating the scale of the damage; Kumho Tire will proceed with a separate compensation process afterward.

The main fire at the Kumho Tire plant in Sochon-dong, Gwangsan District, Gwangju, which broke out on the morning of the 17th, was extinguished after approximately 32 hours. Gwangsan District activated its Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters and implemented an emergency work system for all employees, distributing about 33,000 dust masks and setting up temporary housing at Gwangju Women's University to ensure residents' safety.

Even after the fire was extinguished, Gwangsan District has continued its response efforts to prevent secondary damage from smoke and dust by operating a medical consultation center and deploying water-spraying vehicles.
