On May 18 (local time), at Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,626 yards) in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, the venue for the second major tournament of the 2025 season, the PGA Championship, Kim lost two strokes in the fourth round but finished tied for 8th place with a total score of 4-under-par 280. This marks his second top-10 finish of the year, following a tie for 8th at the RBC Heritage in April. His previous best result at a major was a tie for 12th at the 2021 Masters.

Kim started the day tied for 5th place, five strokes behind the leader, and recorded four birdies and six bogeys. He dropped four shots over 11 holes and fell into the middle of the pack, but turned things around with a birdie on the 12th hole (par 4), then made consecutive birdies on holes 15 and 16 to climb back into the top 10. On the final 18th hole (par 4), his second shot landed in the rough behind the green, but he calmly saved par.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) captured his third career major title. He shot even par for the day to secure a dominant five-stroke victory with a total of 11-under-par 273. This is his second win of the year, following his victory at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson on May 5 in front of his hometown fans, where he tied the PGA Tour record for lowest 72-hole score. It is also the 15th win of his career. After winning twice at the Masters in 2022, this marks his third career major victory.

Bryson DeChambeau (USA), who moved to LIV Golf and is nicknamed "The Hulk," shot one under par to finish tied for 2nd at 6-under-par 278. Harris English and Davis Riley (both USA) were also in this group. Jon Rahm (Spain), the face of LIV Golf, at one point closed the gap to just one stroke behind Scheffler by reaching 3-under-par, but faltered with a bogey and two double bogeys on holes 16 through 18. He finished tied for 8th, alongside Siwoo Kim.

World No. 2 Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) finished tied for 47th at 3-over-par 287. He was unable to maintain the momentum from last month's Masters win, where he completed the career Grand Slam. Among Korean players, Tom Kim finished 71st at 9-over-par 293, while Byeong Hun An finished 74th at 13-over-par 297. Sungjae Im missed the cut.
