Gyeonggi Province's "Caregiving SOS Project" Surpasses 240 Beneficiaries

Gyeonggi Province announced on May 19 that more than 240 residents have benefited from the "Caregiving SOS Project" just over three months after its launch.

This project provides up to 1.2 million won per year in caregiving expenses to vulnerable seniors aged 65 and older who are struggling with caregiving needs.

The project began on February 20, and as of May 15, the number of beneficiaries reached 243. It has established itself as a key social safety net in which families and society work together to provide care. Gyeonggi Province explained that all of the beneficiaries are low-income seniors, and without this support program, they would have been virtually unable to receive caregiving services, making the project especially significant.

Gyeonggi Province plans to continue expanding a variety of policies, including this project, to ensure a healthy old age and a stable caregiving environment for vulnerable seniors.

Currently, low-income seniors aged 65 and older who require caregiving and reside in 15 cities and counties, including Hwaseong, Namyangju, and Gwangmyeong, can access caregiving services after being hospitalized.

Kim Hana, Director of Welfare at Gyeonggi Province, said, "As we celebrate Family Month, I hope the Caregiving SOS Project brings warm hope to seniors in need of care and their families." She added, "We will do our best to promote the program and improve service accessibility so that even more seniors can benefit from caregiving expense support in the future."
