Uiseong County Council to Overhaul Festival and Tourism Policies, Moving Away from Event-Centered Practices

Initiating the Establishment of a Sustainable Strategy System
Exploring Tourism Resource Linkage
Through Resident Demand Surveys and Case Studies from Other Regions

The Uiseong County Council in North Gyeongsang Province is set to review the region's overall festival and tourism policies, moving away from event-centered, conventional execution structures and shifting toward the establishment of strategy-based tourism policies.

Uiseong County Council to Overhaul Festival and Tourism Policies, Moving Away from Event-Centered Practices The Uiseong County Council's research group, 'Uiseong County Tourism Revitalization Study Group,' held a kickoff meeting for the 'Uiseong County Festival and Tourism Awareness Survey and Revitalization Plan Study' on the 13th in the council meeting room, officially starting its policy research activities.

The Uiseong County Council's research group, 'Uiseong County Tourism Revitalization Study Group' (led by Councilor Park Hwaja), announced on the 18th that it had officially launched its policy research activities by holding a kickoff meeting for the 'Uiseong County Festival and Tourism Awareness Survey and Revitalization Plan Study' in the council meeting room on the 13th.

This study will focus on five main tasks: analyzing the current status of festival and tourism awareness, conducting a survey of residents' needs, analyzing case studies from other regions, establishing promotional strategies, and preparing plans to link tourism resources.

Through these efforts, the council aims to develop a differentiated tourism strategy unique to Uiseong County and propose policy alternatives that will provide tangible benefits to the local economy.

The kickoff meeting was attended by Chairman Choi Hunsik, as well as Councilors Kim Kwangho, Kim Hyunchan, Oh Hoyul, and Woo Chilyun, officials from the Uiseong County Office, and local residents, who shared the research direction and discussed ways to utilize the policies.

Councilor Park Hwaja stated, "This study will serve as an opportunity for Uiseong County's festival and tourism policies to move beyond simple event-oriented approaches and make a real contribution to the local economy. We will actively gather residents' opinions and develop effective policies that connect Uiseong's unique resources."

Chairman Choi Hunsik emphasized, "To respond to rapidly changing travel trends, the region's tourism policies must also undergo a fundamental transformation. I hope this research will lead to tourism revitalization strategies that highlight Uiseong's unique characteristics."

Meanwhile, this study is being conducted alongside the 'Uiseong County Education Development Study Group' (led by Councilor Park Sunhee), which began on the 12th and is analyzing the outcomes of education policies. This marks the first time the Uiseong County Council has simultaneously assessed policies in both tourism and education.

The education study will focus on key tasks such as establishing a future education district, operating a local talent development center, providing scholarship support, and utilizing educational expense subsidies, with the aim of producing performance-based ordinance revisions and budget reform plans.

The Uiseong County Council plans to compile the results of both studies by November and actively use them to propose amendments to related local regulations and policies. In the future, the council will also work with relevant departments to develop a roadmap for phased implementation.

Previously, the council proposed increasing subsidies for vacant house remodeling and establishing the 'Uiseong County Vacant House Bank' platform through the 'Uiseong County Vacant House Utilization Study Group' (Councilor Woo Chilyun) last year. The 'Uiseong County Sports Industry Economic Study Group' (Councilor Lee Kyungwon) also suggested measures to boost the local economy by attracting youth sports competitions and developing tourism linkage strategies.

Uiseong County Council to Overhaul Festival and Tourism Policies, Moving Away from Event-Centered Practices The Uiseong County Council's research group, 'Uiseong County Tourism Revitalization Study Group,' held a commemorative photo session after the kickoff report meeting for the 'Uiseong County Festival and Tourism Awareness Survey and Revitalization Plan Study' on the 13th in the council meeting room.
