Kumho Tire CEO Jung Iltaek Apologizes Deeply for Gwangju Plant Fire On the 17th, a fire broke out at Kumho Tire Gwangju Plant, and firefighters are desperately working to extinguish it. Provided by Gwangsan District

Jung Iltaek, CEO of Kumho Tire, issued an apology regarding the fire accident that occurred at the Kumho Tire Gwangju Plant on the 17th.


On the morning of the 18th, CEO Jung released a statement saying, "I deeply bow my head in sincere apology regarding the recent plant fire accident," and added, "Kumho Tire will actively cooperate with the fire authorities and other related agencies, prioritizing fire suppression above all else."


He continued, "We will do our utmost to swiftly extinguish the fire and recover from the damage," and emphasized, "We will accurately determine the cause of the fire to ensure that such incidents never occur again."


He also stated, "To ensure the fire is brought under control as quickly as possible, our executive team has formed an emergency response unit and will cooperate in every step of the process," and added, "Currently, residents near the plant have evacuated, and we will strive to minimize their inconvenience."


Meanwhile, at approximately 7:11 a.m. on the 17th, a fire broke out in the refining process building at the Kumho Tire Gwangju Plant in Gwangsan District, Gwangju. The fire is believed to have been caused by a spark from a device used to preheat rubber, the raw material for tires. As a result of the incident, one Kumho Tire employee in their 20s and two firefighters who responded to the blaze were injured and are receiving treatment.
