LG Electronics announced on May 18 that cumulative domestic sales of its Tromm WashTower, a combined washer-dryer launched in 2020, have surpassed 1 million units.
The WashTower is an all-in-one product that vertically integrates a washing machine and a dryer, and was first introduced to the domestic market by LG Electronics. From its initial launch, it drew attention for its design tailored to changes in apartment layouts, and has established itself as a flagship product with an average annual sales growth rate of over 25%.
LG Electronics noted the trend of shrinking laundry spaces due to the expansion of apartment kitchens and balconies. In response, the company lowered the height of the product by approximately 9 cm compared to previous models and designed the center of the dryer door to be 148.3 cm high, enhancing user convenience.
The WashTower is equipped with an AI-based AI DD (Direct Drive) motor, which detects the weight, fabric type, and humidity of laundry to enable customized washing. For drying, it uses a low-temperature dehumidifying heat pump, which is advantageous for fabric care. Both the washer and dryer feature TrueSteam technology, providing deodorizing and sterilizing effects.
LG Electronics has diversified the capacities and sizes of its products to broaden consumer choices. This year, the company also introduced a new model with significantly enhanced AI features. The new AI WashTower includes "AI Time Guidance," which learns the user's laundry patterns and provides estimated completion times, and "AI Time Sensing," which informs users of the course-specific end time within three seconds of starting a wash.
The drying capacity has been expanded to a maximum of 25 kg, making it possible to handle large loads such as winter comforters.
LG Electronics explained that, as the popularity of the all-in-one washer-dryer WashCombo has also increased, cumulative sales of combined washer-dryers, including both the WashTower and WashCombo, have surpassed 1.1 million units.
