Nowon District Achieves Top SA Grade for Second Consecutive Year in 2025 Eighth Term National Basic Local Government Heads' Pledge Implementation and Information Disclosure Evaluation
Pledge Implementation Completion Rate Reaches 67.5%, 2024 Target Achievement Rate at 90.5%... Steady Progress in Fulfilling Promises
Nowon District in Seoul (Mayor Seungrok Oh) announced that it has achieved the highest grade, SA, for the second consecutive year in the "2025 Eighth Term National Basic Local Government Heads' Pledge Implementation and Information Disclosure Evaluation" organized by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters.
This evaluation, organized by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters, was conducted in five areas: pledge implementation completion, achievement of 2024 targets, resident communication, web communication, and pledge consistency. Grades are classified into six levels, from SA to F.
As of December 31, 2024, Nowon District achieved a pledge implementation completion rate of 67.5%, surpassing the national average of 53.05% and the average for Seoul districts of 66.04%. The target achievement rate also stood at 90.5%, demonstrating that the district is faithfully fulfilling its pledges made to residents.
Of particular note is that the district's core pledges have entered the stage of practical implementation. The district successfully initiated construction on the long-awaited "Gwangwoon University Station Area Development," signaling the beginning of balanced regional development. In addition, the redevelopment of Baeksa Village, once known as "Seoul's last hillside village," entered its final phase by obtaining management disposition plan approval 15 years after being designated a redevelopment area in 2009. Demolition is currently underway, with construction scheduled to begin in December 2025 and completion targeted for the end of 2028.
There have also been remarkable achievements in the cultural sector. The district completed the Nowon Art Museum, which is set to become a cultural hub, and held the "Masters of New York" exhibition featuring works by world-renowned artists to commemorate its opening, providing residents with opportunities to enjoy high-quality cultural experiences.
Additionally, various resident-centered pledges aimed at improving quality of life are steadily becoming reality, including the creation of the Choaansan Circular Walking Trail, the groundbreaking of the youth sports experience facility "Jump," and the remodeling of Wolgye Library.
The district plans to continue faithfully fulfilling its promises to residents by achieving tangible results in a variety of fields.
Under the vision of "Nowon, a Cultural City to Look Forward to Tomorrow" for the eighth term, the district is pursuing 126 pledge projects across six major areas: a future city preparing for the next 100 years, a faster and more convenient transportation city, a cultural city with spaces for relaxation, a healing city that adds rest to nature, an educational city fostering innovative talent, and a warm, healthy welfare city characterized by sharing.
Mayor Seungrok Oh stated, "Being awarded the highest grade for two consecutive years is the result of sincerely fulfilling our promises to residents," and added, "As the eighth term enters its latter half, I will take responsibility to ensure that the remaining tasks are completed without delay through the prompt implementation of pledges."
