According to Yangju City on May 16, Mayor Yang Suhyun signed a joint press release with Malaysia's leading conglomerate, Tadmansori Group, at the World Trade Center Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on April 30 to create a "Global Halal Food Cluster."

This agreement mainly focuses on attracting halal certification agencies and K-food-related companies to the Eunnam Industrial Complex, which is currently under development in Yangju, in order to build a food cluster targeting the global market.

Yangju City expects this project to serve as a leading model for establishing a global supply chain management (SCM) system centered on "K-halal food," which reinterprets Korea's unique food culture to meet halal standards, going beyond simple food exports. In particular, Yangju plans to strengthen its function as a strategic base targeting key halal markets such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

Yangju City also expects that the participation of Tadmansori Group, a company with a high level of trust and a strong distribution network in Malaysia, will further boost the momentum of the "Global Halal Food Cluster."

In particular, as Malaysia is considered a strategic hub within the ASEAN market, this cooperation is expected to provide an important foundation for the overall success of the "Global Halal Food Cluster" project.

Starting with the signing of the joint press release, Yangju City plans to officially invite the top management of Tadmansori Group to conduct an on-site inspection of the Eunnam Industrial Complex and discuss investment plans. Mayor Yang Suhyun also intends to accelerate efforts to expand the global network to attract promising domestic and international food companies.

Mayor Yang Suhyun stated, "The agreement with Tadmansori Group is a very meaningful first step toward the globalization of K-food," adding, "I hope Yangju will become a key hub in the global food industry and contribute to expanding the horizons of Korea's food industry."

Meanwhile, according to Yangju City, as of 2024, the global halal food market is estimated at approximately $2 trillion (about KRW 3,000 trillion), which is 1.7 times the size of the entire U.S. food market and 1.6 times that of China, making it a new growth engine for the food industry.

The halal consumer population, which reaches 2 billion people, accounts for one quarter of the world's population. A Yangju City official stated, "The halal industry is emerging as a new growth engine for Korea's food industry in the future."
