Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae Myung announced tailored development pledges for the Jeonnam Haenam, Wando, and Jindo regions, expressing a strong commitment to regional development.
In the regional pledges announced on the 16th, Lee stated, "For Haenam, I will support the establishment of the Solaseado Global AI Supercluster Hub and the construction of an energy expressway based on renewable energy. I will also actively support the Wando~Goheung coastal tourism road, and seek ways to extend the Honam High-Speed Railway to Wando and Jindo."

Pledges related to Haenam County include: support for the establishment of the Solaseado Global AI Supercluster Hub; construction of an energy expressway linked to renewable energy; review of extending the Honam High-Speed Railway to Haenam; establishment of an advanced agri-industry platform; and exploration of a connection between Muan Airport and Suncheon via high-speed and conventional rail lines.
Pledges for Wando County include: support for the Wando~Goheung coastal tourism road; review of extending the Honam High-Speed Railway to Wando; creation of a K-Seaweed-based climate change response platform; establishment of a smart marine healing hub; and development of a seaweed-specialized marine bioindustry cluster.
Pledges for Jindo County include: exploring the relocation of the starting point of National Road No. 18 and the construction of the new Jodo Bridge; review of extending the Honam High-Speed Railway to Jindo; creation of a publicly led offshore wind power cluster; expansion of Seomang Port as a national fishing port; repair and reinforcement of the Sopojigu embankment; and establishment of the Jindo Traditional Arts Cluster.
A member of Lee's campaign explained, "Haenam will create an RE100 industrial complex by expanding the solar and renewable energy industries and building an AI-based intelligent power grid, while Wando will foster sustainable, high value-added industries through a marine healing tourism belt and future-oriented blue tech industries."
The official added, "For Jindo, we will promote the supply of renewable energy to ensure stable energy provision and advance carbon neutrality by gradually establishing an offshore wind power cluster. We will also lay the foundation for cultural and tourism development in the Honam region by expanding cultural and tourism infrastructure."
Lee also presented a plan to vitalize the archipelago tourism and logistics industry by connecting the Seoul metropolitan area, Gwangju, and Mokpo through a high-speed railway along the southwest coast.
Park Jiwon, who serves as the joint chair of Lee Jae Myung's campaign committee for Gwangju and Jeonnam, emphasized, "The pledges for Haenam, Wando, and Jindo, carefully prepared by the policy headquarters, offer realistic solutions to the region's long-standing challenges. Let's lead both a change of government and regional development with the highest voter turnout in Jeonnam."
