On the afternoon of the 16th, the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education held the "2025 Chungnam Multicultural Education Support Policy Meeting" at the Curriculum Evaluation and Information Institute, with local family center directors from the province and multicultural affairs officials from city and county education support offices in attendance.
At the meeting, directors of family centers from various regions in Chungnam, including Nam Boo-hyun, director of the Chungnam Family Center, participated and shared the current status of key projects for supporting children from multicultural families, matters requiring cooperation, and directions for future development, thereby deepening their understanding of the situation on the ground.
Local family centers operate customized programs in various fields to support the stable settlement of multicultural families and the growth of their children, including support for language development, support for basic academic learning, support for career planning, and support for educational activity expenses.
The provincial office of education is implementing multicultural education support projects such as integrated education to enhance multicultural sensitivity, creating multicultural-friendly school environments, expanding Korean language classes, operating multicultural education policy schools, and providing classroom assistant personnel, so that students from both migrant and non-migrant backgrounds can grow together.
In addition, the provincial office is continuously promoting multicultural-friendly policies, such as assigning invited teachers from Uzbekistan to support students from Central Asia, and these efforts have been well received.
The provincial office of education plans to further strengthen close cooperation among institutions to help children from multicultural families settle well into society and grow into future talents.
Superintendent Kim Ji-cheol said, "The discussions held at today's meeting will serve as valuable material for future policy development and implementation," and added, "We will actively support more systematic multicultural education through organic cooperation and communication among local family centers, the provincial office of education, and city and county education support offices."
