A total of 73 current and former female lawmakers representing the Gwangju area have declared their support for Lee Jae Myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea.
According to the Gwangju City Council on May 16, the current and former female lawmakers held a declaration ceremony at the Democratic Party Gwangju City Party election office the previous day. This declaration of support was organized at the suggestion of the "Association of Current and Former Female Lawmakers of Gwangju Concerned About the Future of Korea."
At the declaration event, the current and former female lawmakers stated, "Candidate Lee Jae Myung is the only person equipped with strong crisis management skills, practical leadership, and a vision for national unity."
They also emphasized, "Lee Jae Myung is the only candidate who can unify a divided and fractured Korea, build a true Republic of Korea, lead a society where women are happy, expand women's political participation, and realize balanced regional development."
The Association of Current and Former Female Lawmakers of Gwangju operates voluntarily to promote communication and solidarity among female politicians. Currently, there are 115 current and former female lawmakers in the Gwangju area (excluding the deceased).
