Gwangju Donggu District Launches Credit Card Fee Support for Small Businesses

On May 16, Gwangju Donggu District announced that it will provide support for credit card processing fees to local small business tenants through the "Small Business Credit Card Fee Support Project."

The support is available to small business tenants operating businesses within Donggu District. Any business with an annual sales revenue of 100 million won or less in the previous year (including value-added tax) is eligible. The district will subsidize up to 300,000 won, covering 0.5% of the card sales revenue as the processing fee.

If an individual operates multiple businesses, only one business per person is eligible for support. Small business owners wishing to apply must prepare the necessary documents, such as a business registration certificate and lease agreement, and can apply either in person at the local administrative welfare center where the business is located or online through the New Industry and Jobs Team of the Job and Economy Division at Donggu District Office.

However, the following are excluded from support: small business owners operating their own property, those with overdue local taxes, businesses in sectors excluded from small business policy fund support, businesses that are not registered or have not filed tax returns with the National Tax Service (unregistered businesses), and non-profit organizations, businesses, or corporations. District Mayor Lim Taek stated, "Small businesses, which are the foundation of the local economy, are struggling due to the ongoing economic downturn and rising prices. I hope that supporting one of their major burdens, credit card processing fees, will provide tangible and meaningful help to small business owners."
