Ourhome has announced a new beginning by appointing a professional manager from Hanwha as its new leader.
On May 16, Ourhome held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and a board of directors meeting, where it appointed Taewon Kim, head of Hanwha Galleria's Future Business TFT (Executive Vice President, 48, see photo), as its new CEO. Including the new CEO Kim, a total of four individuals were newly appointed as inside directors on this day.
Kim, the new CEO, graduated from the Department of Law at Seoul National University. He joined Hanwha Group in 2016 and has led strategy development for the distribution and service sectors, as well as the discovery of new business opportunities. He has served as head of strategy at Hanwha Galleria, store manager of the luxury department, and head of the merchandising division. Since last year, he has been leading the Future Business TFT, focusing on securing new growth engines for Galleria.
In particular, Kim is credited with enhancing the competitiveness of the department store sector by attracting high-value global brands and introducing differentiated VIP services. During the process of acquiring Ourhome, he played a key role by leading on-site due diligence and behind-the-scenes negotiations, which were crucial to finalizing the deal.
Kim plans to expand Ourhome into the nation's top comprehensive food company by leveraging its existing strengths in food service and food material distribution, while also enhancing its capabilities in dining and food manufacturing. Kim stated, "As Ourhome embarks on a new beginning as part of Hanwha, we will continue to drive many changes and innovations so that the company can lead the domestic and global food markets."
