The Jeonju City Choir of North Jeolla Province (Artistic Director and Conductor Kim Chul) will present a special stage to mark the 75th anniversary of the Korean War.

The Jeonju City Choir announced on May 16 that it will hold the 155th Regular Concert, a film opera titled "The Miracle of the Meredith Victory," at 7:30 p.m. on May 22 at Yeonji Hall, Sori Arts Center of Jeonju.

This performance is based on the true story of the SS Meredith Victory, which safely evacuated about 14,000 refugees during the Hungnam Evacuation Operation in the Korean War, transporting them through Busan and Geoje.

Under the overall direction of Artistic Director Kim Chul, the choir has prepared a high-quality stage with music composed by Lee Yongju and adaptation and direction by Lee Hyekyung. The large-scale choral performance will feature more than 120 performers, including the Jeonju City Choir, Jeonju City Symphony Orchestra, and Jeonju City Boys and Girls Choir.

In particular, this performance movingly depicts the journey of the Meredith Victory crew, who saved lives and maintained their humanity despite the horrors of war, as well as the refugees who gained new lives as a result. The real-life stories of the refugees have been reconstructed through music and choir, and are expected to deeply resonate and foster empathy among the audience.

No Eunyoung, Director of Culture, Sports, and Tourism at Jeonju City, said, "This regular concert will be a meaningful occasion to reflect not only on art but also on the history and humanity we must never forget," adding, "We ask for the interest and participation of our citizens."

Meanwhile, tickets for the performance are priced at 10,000 won for all seats and can be reserved through the Naru Culture website or by phone. Holders of the Artist Pass Card and students (including university students) are eligible for a 30% discount, while national merit recipients and people with disabilities receive a 50% discount.
