This agreement was made possible based on the outcomes of the '2025 International Coastal Science Symposium' held at National Pukyong University on April 29, led by the G-LAMP Project Group at National Pukyong University and the International Coastal Science Center (ICSC).

Under the agreement, the four universities will cooperate in the following areas: joint research and scientific data sharing on coastal environmental changes; establishment of a collaborative system for the development of marine disaster response technologies and policies; operation of personnel exchange and joint educational programs; joint establishment of strategies for the restoration and sustainable management of coastal ecosystems; and regularization of international joint symposiums and technical workshops.

With this agreement, it is expected that the international joint response system to coastal threats?such as sea level rise, coastal erosion, and ecosystem degradation, which are accelerating globally?will be further strengthened.

Ryu Junghyung, Director of the ICSC who led the signing of the agreement, stated, "This four-party agreement lays the foundation for global cooperation for a sustainable future of oceans and coasts," and added, "Through the technological capabilities of the G-LAMP Project Group and the international network of the ICSC, we will establish a practical coastal cooperation platform connecting Asia and the Americas."

Going forward, the four universities plan to strengthen the international system for coastal conservation and restoration through annual symposiums, joint projects, and talent development programs centered on the ICSC.
