Wonju City in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Won Kangsu) announced on May 16 that the Wonju City Youth Development Committee selected four recipients for the 4th Wonju City Proud Youth Award on May 14.
A total of eight candidates were nominated across five categories for the Youth Award. After excluding one candidate who did not meet the residency requirement, four out of the remaining seven candidates were ultimately selected as this year's award recipients.
The recipients in each category are as follows: Culture and Arts - Jung Heechan (2nd year, Wonju Medical High School); Sports - Kim Jungmin (3rd year, Wonju Girls’ Middle School); Perseverance in Life - Kim Dabin (2nd year, Hojeo Middle School); and Volunteer Service - Ji Yeeun (company employee).
The awards ceremony will be held on June 7 at the 23rd Wonju Youth Festival "Flowers Bloom" at the Wonju Gymnasium.
Kim Kyungmi, head of the Education and Youth Division of Wonju City, stated, “I hope that through this award, young people will establish a proper sense of youth, gain pride and fulfillment, and find an opportunity for further growth.”
