Employment Opportunities at Hotels for Graduates
The Korea Tourism Organization announced on May 16 that it is recruiting middle-aged individuals (aged 45 to 64) and women with career experience to participate in its 'Hanok and Accommodation Service Specialist' training program, which will run until June 8.
The organization has prepared this program to actively respond to the demand for talent in the 'Hanok Hotel' industry, which combines the beauty of traditional Hanok architecture with premium services, and to create jobs in the tourism sector.
Participants in this program will learn about the characteristics of Hanok hotels and premium accommodation businesses, as well as acquire the professional knowledge required to become accommodation service specialists. The curriculum also includes practical training in banquet, room, and food and beverage operations, along with on-site hotel visits to enhance understanding of the work. The program will be held for a total of 10 days and 50 hours, from June 16 to June 30. All classes will take place at the Korea Tourism Organization's headquarters in Wonju and are offered free of charge.
Notably, those who complete the program will be given employment opportunities at hotels in the Gangwon region, including The Hanok Heritage House Hanok Hotel in Yeongwol, which won first place in the hotel category at the 2024 Versailles Architecture Awards.
Anyone who is a middle-aged individual aged 45 to 64 or a woman with career experience is eligible to apply, regardless of age. Approximately 40 participants will be selected through document screening and interviews. Yoon Seunghwan, head of the Tourism Talent Development Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, stated, "Since the pandemic, the accommodation industry has been facing a severe labor shortage. The organization will do its utmost to provide specialized training for middle-aged individuals and women with career experience, nurture tourism industry professionals, and ensure that this leads to real employment opportunities."
