Ghibli and Disney Meet Classical Music... Songpa to Hold Family Month "Children's Classic Concert"

Songpa District in Seoul (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) is presenting a special classical music concert that the whole family can enjoy together in celebration of Family Month.

The district announced on May 16 that it will hold the "Children's Classic Concert - OST with Orchestra" at Lotte Concert Hall at 5:00 p.m. on May 27.

This performance is the second installment of the 2025 cultural performance series planned by the Songpa Cultural Foundation. The stage will feature OSTs from Ghibli and Disney animations, making it easy and fun for children experiencing classical music for the first time to enjoy and feel the music.

The first part will feature the emotional melodies of Ghibli animations such as "Howl's Moving Castle" and "My Neighbor Totoro," while the second part will present familiar music from Disney masterpieces like "The Lion King," "The Little Mermaid," and "Aladdin," all performed in classical arrangements.

The concert will be led by conductor Baek Yunhak, well known as the "Dancing Conductor." The Seoul Festa Philharmonic Orchestra will deliver the joy and energy of classical music through their vibrant performance.

The event is expected to spark children's curiosity about classical music and offer families a moving and memorable experience together.

The concert is open to Songpa District residents aged five and older. In particular, the district plans to invite children from group homes and local children's centers, as well as other culturally underserved groups, so that more children can experience a classical music performance.

Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis via Naver Reservation starting at 11:00 a.m. on May 19, and all seats will be provided free of charge.

For more information, please contact the Cultural Projects Team at the Songpa Cultural Foundation.

Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, said, "I hope this concert will inspire children's first curiosity toward music and create warm memories for families," adding, "We will continue to offer a variety of performances and programs so that people of all generations can naturally enjoy culture and the arts in their daily lives."
