Gyeonggi Province to Hold Four Three-Day, Two-Night "Reading Camps" with Books This Year

Gyeonggi Province will operate a three-day, two-night reading camp four times this year, inviting participants to embark on a journey with books.


Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that the first session of the "Cheon Gwon Euro (Road) Reading Camp" will be held from May 16 to May 18 at "Gipeun Sansok Ongdalsaem" in Chungju.


On the first day, participants will have time for self-reflection through meditation and reading. On the second day, they will share their most influential books and awaken their senses through a five-sense therapy workshop. On the final, third day, an educational program will be held under the theme "Realizing My Vision Through Reading."


Gyeonggi Province will hold the reading camp on four occasions: May 16-18, May 30-June 1, July 4-6, and August 6-8.

For the first session, Gyeonggi Province will host a total of 60 participants, including members of the "Cheonhamujeok Dokseodan (Supporters)," who have been active since January. The province plans to recruit participants for sessions two through four at a later date. Through the "Cheon Gwon Euro (Road) Lifelong Reading Project," Gyeonggi Province is operating a variety of programs, including reading camps, book busking, lectures by renowned speakers, and family reading challenges.


In particular, in the second half of this year, Gyeonggi Province plans to introduce the "Reading Support Points System" for the first time in the country to encourage residents to practice reading.
