Enhancing Understanding of Senior Welfare Policies

On May 15, the Gwangju Talent Education Center carried out a "Senior Care Volunteer Activity" at Bethesda Nursing Home in Seo-gu, with 60 trainees from the 34th Core Leader Course participating.
The "Core Leader Course" is a six-month long-term training program aimed at fostering pivotal leaders equipped with practical capabilities and problem-solving skills. It is conducted for Grade 6 public officials belonging to Gwangju City and its autonomous districts.
This volunteer activity was organized to put the spirit of public service into practice and to enhance understanding of senior welfare policies. The trainees participated in activities such as taking walks and conversing with the elderly residents of the nursing home to help provide emotional stability, and also listened to on-site difficulties.
One trainee who participated in the volunteer activity said, "It was a valuable time to reflect on the meaning of service as a public servant," and added, "I will pay more attention to senior welfare even after returning to my duties."
Kim Yongseung, Director of the Talent Education Center, stated, "This activity is an opportunity to internalize a sense of responsibility toward the community and to put into practice the public values of dedication and service," and added, "We will continue to enhance the effectiveness of our training through a variety of volunteer programs in the future."
