Youth Culture and Arts Pass Character Naming Contest
Grand Prize: 300,000 won, Excellence Prize: 200,000 won, Encouragement Prize: 100,000 won
The Korean Culture and Arts Committee announced on May 15 that it will hold a character naming contest for users of the 2025 Youth Culture and Arts Pass.
The Youth Culture and Arts Pass program is open to all 19-year-old youths in Korea (those born in 2006), regardless of income level. The program provides performance and exhibition viewing subsidies of up to 150,000 won per person, on a first-come, first-served basis, to a total of 160,000 applicants.
This contest is open only to users who have been issued the 2025 Youth Culture and Arts Pass. Participants can submit a name that fits the program character, along with the meaning or reason behind the name, through the event page on the Youth Culture and Arts Pass website.
Entries will be evaluated through a three-stage process: the first stage is an eligibility screening, the second stage is expert evaluation, and the third stage is a user preference vote. Awards will be given to a total of 33 participants: Grand Prize (1 person, Naver Pay point voucher worth 300,000 won), Excellence Prize (1 person, Naver Pay point voucher worth 200,000 won), Encouragement Prize (1 person, Naver Pay point voucher worth 100,000 won), and Participation Prize (30 people, Naver Pay point voucher worth 10,000 won).
Entries will be accepted until May 31, and the results will be announced on June 26. For more details, please visit the event page on the Youth Culture and Arts Pass website.
An official from the committee said, "We hope that a variety of creative and witty ideas from users will be proposed through this contest," and added, "If you are a 19-year-old (born in 2006) who has not yet received the Youth Culture and Arts Pass, don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime cultural privilege."
Meanwhile, the application and issuance period for the first half of the 2025 Youth Culture and Arts Pass is open until May 31, and the pass can be used for events taking place until December 31. However, if a recipient does not use any funds by June 30 (based on the reservation date), the subsidy will be reclaimed.
