Myung Hyungwan Emphasizes the Need for Thorough Measures
to Ensure a Convenient Voting Experience
Haenam County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Myung Hyungwan) has begun thorough preparations to ensure that residents can participate in the 21st presidential election safely.
On May 15, the county held a briefing session on measures to increase voter turnout in the presidential election, presided over by Governor Myung Hyungwan. During the session, the county checked election preparations in each town and township and decided to actively promote voter participation among residents.
At the meeting, officials reviewed the status of applications for absentee and shipboard voting for residents who have difficulty traveling to polling stations, and agreed to actively publicize the vehicle support system available on election day.

The Election Commission provides voting vehicles such as buses and vans for areas that are far from polling stations and lack public transportation, or where public transportation operates six times or fewer per day, to ensure transportation convenience for voters in need.
In addition, transportation support will be provided for voters with limited mobility, such as those with severe disabilities, seniors, and pregnant women, through the Transportation Support Center for the Mobility-Impaired and similar organizations. The voting vehicle support system for voters with limited mobility will be available on the early voting days of May 29?30 and on the election day, June 3.
Residents who wish to use this service can apply for voting assistance by calling the Haenam County branch of the Jeonnam Association for the Physically Disabled, the Haenam County Transportation Support Center for the Mobility-Impaired, or the Haenam County Disabled Persons’ Life Mobility Support Center.
In addition, the county is actively working to establish a public-private cooperation system to increase voter turnout by displaying 102 banners encouraging voting participation in major areas, posting notices on apartment bulletin boards and electronic displays at the county office and town offices, and sending official letters to local high schools and organizations to request their cooperation in promoting voter participation.
In particular, Governor Myung Hyungwan and county staff are conducting a relay campaign on social media to encourage voting, and have changed the administrative telephone and staff smartphone ringtones to voting participation campaign messages, demonstrating proactive efforts by public officials to increase voter turnout.
Haenam County has been taking preemptive steps in election administration since the presidential election schedule was confirmed last month. From May 11 to 13, the county conducted voter list inspections and accepted objections, held training for polling station managers on May 13, and plans to register omitted voters on the voter list from May 14 to 21.
Meanwhile, the 21st presidential election will be held with early voting on May 29?30 and the main election on June 3. Early voting is available at any early voting station nationwide from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., while voting on election day is available at designated polling stations indicated on the ballot from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
