It has been reported that the economic authorities of South Korea and the United States met in Milan, Italy, on May 5 to discuss exchange rate policies.
Local media on May 14 cited a South Korean government official in reporting this development.
According to reports, Choi Jiyeong, Director General for International Economic Affairs, represented the South Korean side, while Robert Kaproth, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia, attended on behalf of the United States.
This meeting took place on the occasion of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting held in Milan on May 5.
In April, the finance and trade ministers of South Korea and the United States held a '2+2 Trade Consultation' in Washington, D.C., and agreed that the Ministry of Economy and Finance of South Korea and the U.S. Department of the Treasury would separately discuss matters related to exchange rates.
