Yeongju City Officially Launches Regional Vitality Town Development Project

Promoting the Development of a Living Hub
for Youth Settlement and Revitalization of the Old City Center

On May 14, Yeongju City announced that it has officially launched the Regional Vitality Town Development Project by holding a kickoff report meeting for the designation of the development zone and the architectural planning service, which is the first step in supporting youth settlement and revitalizing the city center.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Mayor Lee Jaehun, heads of relevant departments, urban planning experts, and representatives from the service provider. They shared the direction for project implementation, discussed the spatial layout plan, and deliberated on detailed strategies for moving the project forward.

The "Regional Vitality Town (Playground HI·VE)" project aims to create a living hub in the old city center by integrating housing, infrastructure, and services, with the goal of attracting young people and improving the living conditions of local residents.

The project site covers 43,088 square meters in the Hamang-dong area of Yeongju City, with a total project budget of 69.5 billion won. The main facilities to be constructed include: 70 units of multi-family townhouses for young people and newlyweds; a complex community center; an indoor sports complex (including a swimming pool); and an open park. These facilities will be developed in phases to dramatically improve the local living infrastructure.

During the meeting, concrete discussions were held on topics such as zone designation, basic layout concepts, and the direction for installing major infrastructure. The city plans to establish an integrated living service system that will encompass support for employment and entrepreneurship, housing, education, culture, sports, and care services.

Deputy Mayor Lee Jaehun stated, "This Regional Vitality Town Development Project will serve as a catalyst for substantially improving living conditions in the old city center and attracting more young people. We will systematically implement the project so that it can become a new hub of daily life in Yeongju."

After the project was selected as a national public offering project in May 2024, Yeongju City signed a regional development investment agreement in November of the same year and completed the announcement of the Gyeongsangbuk-do development-promotion regional development plan in January 2025. Currently, the city is carrying out the designation of the development zone, as well as the detailed planning and architectural planning services. It plans to complete the necessary approval procedures in the first half of 2026 and finish construction by 2027.
