Compensation for Damages Caused by Natural Disasters and Accidents
Ulsan City is implementing the "Citizen Safety Insurance Support Program," which compensates citizens for damages caused by natural disasters or accidents.
This program is a citizen safety protection system established to guarantee the safety of citizens and to alleviate the financial burden caused by unexpected accidents or disasters.
The main coverage items include natural disasters, social disasters, fire·collapse·explosion accidents, public transportation accidents, traffic accidents in child protection zones (school zones), and traffic accidents in senior protection zones (silver zones), as well as other accidents that may frequently occur in daily life.
Eligible recipients are citizens who are registered residents of Ulsan City, and they are automatically enrolled in the insurance without any separate application process.
Claims can be made within three years from the date of the accident or the date of disability assessment, and in the case of death caused by natural disasters such as typhoons, heavy rain, or earthquakes, compensation of up to 20 million won is provided.
In particular, this insurance can be combined with other insurance (personal insurance), allowing citizens to receive additional benefits.
Insurance payouts are provided when the affected citizen or their legal heir submits documents proving the damage from the accident directly to the insurance company (Korea Local Authorities Mutual Aid Association).
For further details, citizens can contact the Safety Management Division of their local district or county office.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "This Citizen Safety Insurance Support Program is part of our efforts to further strengthen the safety of our citizens and to help reduce their financial burden from unexpected accidents," adding, "We will continue to implement safety policies so that citizens can live with peace of mind."
