Jungnang District (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) will hold the "17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival Walking Event" at Junghwa Sports Park on May 16.
This walking event is the first program to kick off the "17th Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival," which runs for nine days from May 16 to May 24. It has been organized to wish for the safety and success of the festival. The event is co-hosted and organized by the Jungnang District Sports Council, the Jungnang District Christian Council, the Jungnang District Buddhist Association, and the Catholic Seoul Jungnang 7th District, with sponsorship from Woori Bank.
The event will start from the main stage of the Rose Festival at Junghwa Sports Park and proceed for approximately 1.5 kilometers to the Surimdae Rose Garden stage. Anyone can participate freely without prior registration. Participants are to gather at Junghwa Sports Park by 11:00 a.m. on the day of the event, and a celebratory performance will be held from 10:30 a.m. before the start to further enhance the festive atmosphere.
In particular, commemorative gifts will be given to the first 2,000 participants, and a prize draw event is planned, adding to the enjoyment of the festival.
Celebrating its 17th year, the "Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival" is widely recognized as Seoul's representative flower festival, featuring the nation's longest rose tunnel (5.45 kilometers) and 310,000 rose bushes of 228 varieties along the Jungnangcheon area. During the Grand Rose Festival, which takes place for three days from May 16 to May 18, a variety of performances, hands-on experiences, promotional, and exhibition programs will be held mainly at Jungnang Rose Park. The festival will conclude with the Jungnang Artist Festival at Myeonmok Sports Park on May 24.
Ryu Gyeonggi, Mayor of Jungnang District, stated, "The walking event is a meaningful occasion where local religious and sports organizations come together to wish for a safe festival," and added, "I hope everyone will create unforgettable memories by walking along the flower-filled paths of May with family, friends, and neighbors."
