The Korea Local Information Research and Development Institute announced on May 13 that it had conducted a comprehensive inspection of its major information systems and infrastructure on June 3 to support the successful operation of the 21st presidential election.
This inspection was a preemptive measure to ensure uninterrupted and stable information services without system failures or cyber threats during the election period, including the deadline for compiling the voter list on May 22.
On this day, Park Deoksoo, President of the Institute, along with key executives, personally checked the operational status and reviewed emergency response plans.
The Institute focused on the regional cloud center and checked whether the system could continue operating even in the event of disasters or failures by conducting training for power redundancy facilities, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), and emergency generator operations. In addition, the Institute carried out simulation drills assuming actual emergency situations.
Furthermore, the Institute inspected the operational status of its artificial intelligence (AI)-based intelligent security monitoring system to ensure 24-hour response against potential cyber intrusion attempts during the election period.
President Park stated, "The presidential election is the most important national event, and not even a single moment of information system failure can be allowed. As the institution responsible for the technical foundation, we will do our utmost to ensure the safe conduct of the election through stable system operation and thorough security measures."
Meanwhile, the Institute operates and supports the informatization infrastructure of local governments nationwide and provides technical infrastructure and professional capabilities for the stable operation of major national events.
