Damyang County in South Jeolla Province announced on May 13 that it was selected as an "Excellent Institution" for two consecutive years in the 2025 Local Government Joint Evaluation (based on 2024 performance).
At the beginning of the year, the county held a government joint evaluation progress briefing presided over by the deputy county governor. The county has continuously operated monthly indicator management and countermeasure meetings for underperforming indicators, thereby strengthening its response system.
In addition, the county sought customized response measures reflecting the characteristics of each indicator, and enhanced its evaluation response capabilities through close cooperation with relevant departments in South Jeolla Province. As a result, the county achieved fourth place in the province for the second consecutive year, securing 100 million KRW in project funds and 15 million KRW in prize money from South Jeolla Province. This year, the county will continue to designate underperforming indicators as key management targets and identify field-oriented improvement tasks to further enhance administrative credibility.
County Governor Jeong Cheolwon stated, "This achievement is the result of responsible attitudes from our staff and collaboration between departments," adding, "We will prepare even more thoroughly to meet the expectations of our residents in next year's evaluation."
Meanwhile, the Local Government Joint Evaluation is a system that assesses the major policies and administrative performance of central government agencies and local governments in accordance with the Framework Act on Government Performance Evaluation, and is conducted based on 99 indicators (82 quantitative and 17 qualitative).
