Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu Earns Top Marks for Pledge Fulfillment ... 'SA' Grade for Three Consecutive Years

The 8th popularly elected administration of Gyeongnam Province, led by Governor Park Wansu, has been found to be faithfully fulfilling its pledges to the residents.

On May 13, Gyeongnam Province announced that it had once again received the highest grade, SA, in the "8th Popularly Elected Provincial Governors' Pledge Implementation and Information Disclosure Evaluation," conducted by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters.

This marks the third consecutive year, from 2023?the year after the launch of the 8th administration?through this year, that Gyeongnam Province has achieved the highest grade.

The Manifesto Implementation Headquarters evaluated pledge-related materials and publicly disclosed information posted on the official websites of provincial governments nationwide as of December 31, 2024.

The evaluation was based on five criteria: ▲completion of pledge implementation ▲achievement of goals ▲communication with residents ▲web-based communication ▲consistency of pledges. Results were categorized into SA, A, B, C, D, and F grades.

Gyeongnam Province received the SA grade in areas such as completion of pledge implementation and achievement of 2024 goals.

Among the 75 pledge tasks, 8 were completed, 36 were continuously promoted after implementation, and 31 are being normally pursued. As a result, the province was evaluated as having achieved all the pledge implementation goals promised last year.

The province's efforts to ensure transparency in pledge implementation and communication with residents?such as enacting practical rules for pledge management, operating a residents' pledge evaluation panel, holding quarterly review meetings, and disclosing information on the official website every half-year?were also highlighted.

It was also positively evaluated that a dedicated Pledge/Manifesto bulletin board was created on the main page of the provincial government website, allowing residents to check the status of implementation, budget execution details, and evaluation results.

This evaluation has been conducted annually since the 4th local elections in 2006, to monitor provincial governors' election pledges and prevent their unilateral omission, modification, or abolition by the administration without democratic procedures, thereby enhancing the effectiveness and feasibility of pledge implementation.

Gyeongnam Province stated, "In addition to pledges, we aim to secure the implementation of all provincial government tasks by conducting monthly internal reviews and holding quarterly briefings chaired by the governor and vice governor," adding, "We will continue our efforts by consistently developing improvement measures for tasks that are lagging."
