On May 13, Park Dongjin, head of Masanhappo District Office in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, visited Myeongju Village in Gusan-myeon to listen to the concerns of coastal environment maintenance workers and to express his appreciation for their hard work.
Masanhappo District currently employs a total of 23 frontline workers, including public officials and temporary workers, for coastal environment maintenance in order to create a pleasant coastal area.
These workers patrol the Masanhappo coastal area from Gapo-dong to Jinjeon-myeon, carry out cleaning activities, and then sort waste and produce waste polystyrene ingots at the Okgae fisheries waste polystyrene recycling facility. In addition, when large amounts of marine debris are generated due to disasters such as typhoons or mass sardine deaths, they are the first to respond and swiftly carry out environmental cleanup operations.
Park Dongjin stated, "Please be careful to avoid accidents such as injuries while using equipment or slipping during work along the shore. I urge you to always wear safety gear while working. I am deeply grateful for the dedication of all frontline workers."
