Comprehensive Medical Services Delivered in Hansan-myeon, Tongyeong
Mobile Healthcare Bus Supports Local Farmers and Residents
On May 13, Gyeongnam Nonghyup and Tongyeong City operated the 'Rural House Call Bus' in Hansan-myeon, Tongyeong, providing mobile medical services to fill the healthcare gap for around 300 local farmers and residents.
The 'Rural House Call Bus' project delivers comprehensive medical services such as general healthcare, oral examinations, exercise prescriptions and education, and vision checks with reading glasses support to residents in rural areas where hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies are scarce.
Hansan-myeon, where Hansan Nonghyup is located, is only about 7 kilometers from downtown Tongyeong. However, due to its geographical characteristics as an island area, access to medical and cultural benefits is extremely limited.
The event was attended by Lee Sangjin, Deputy Head of the Economic Division at Gyeongnam Nonghyup, Ha Sangwoo, Head of the Tongyeong Branch of Nonghyup, and Choi Jaehyung, Head of Hansan Nonghyup. Medical staff from Haetsalmaru provided traditional Korean medicine volunteer services, while Bom Optical Shop offered vision tests and reading glasses support.
Choi Jaehyung, Head of Hansan Nonghyup, said, "I deeply appreciate everyone who volunteered to provide quality medical services to the residents in the Hansan Nonghyup area, which is a remote island region with limited healthcare facilities. We will continue to promote various welfare projects to ensure a healthy future for our members and farmers."
Lee Sangjin, Deputy Head of the Economic Division at Gyeongnam Nonghyup, stated, "I am grateful for the dedication of the Rural House Call Bus medical staff and volunteers. Gyeongnam Nonghyup will do its utmost to improve the quality of life for farmers by expanding welfare projects, including the Rural House Call Bus."
