On May 12, the Cheongsong County Health and Medical Center signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Cheongsong Post Office (headed by Lee Jongseon) to establish a "mail service-based used pharmaceuticals collection system," supporting residents in conveniently returning unused or expired medications.

This agreement was promoted to prevent environmental pollution and health hazards caused by the illegal disposal of used pharmaceuticals. It also aims to improve the quality of life for residents and promote public health through the safe and systematic collection and processing of these medications.
Under the agreement, Cheongsong Post Office will establish internal collection procedures that allow residents to easily return used pharmaceuticals using local mailboxes. The post office will also operate safe storage and delivery processes for the collected medications.
The Cheongsong County Health and Medical Center will safely dispose of the collected pharmaceuticals in accordance with Ministry of Environment guidelines and, when necessary, will coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure final processing.
In addition, both institutions will jointly promote the used pharmaceuticals collection system to residents and conduct activities to raise public awareness. They also plan to continuously review operations and improve the system to enhance its efficiency in the future.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "If used pharmaceuticals are carelessly discarded, it can cause not only environmental pollution but also issues such as drug misuse," and added, "We will continue to strengthen the collection system for used pharmaceuticals and actively encourage resident participation to make Cheongsong a cleaner and safer community."
