"Reports Received of 2km-Range Sniper Rifle Smuggling Amid Lee Jaemyung Assassination Threats"

Multiple Reports Submitted to Democratic Party
"Far More Than the Seven Cases Currently Under Police Investigation"
Threats Involving Former Special Forces Personnel Also Reported

Jin Sungjun, the Policy Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on May 13, "We have even received reports that a monstrous sniper rifle with a range of up to 2 kilometers has been smuggled in." He explained that this is why there is heightened tension due to assassination threats related to Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jaemyung.

During an interview on CBS Radio that day, Chair Jin said, "The party has received many reports regarding assassination and terror threats against candidate Lee," adding, "There are many supporters voicing concerns about Lee's personal safety." In response to the host's mention that seven assassination and terror threats had been reported, Jin clarified, "It's not that only seven have been reported; those seven are the cases currently under police investigation. The actual number of reports is much higher than that."

Regarding the smuggling of sniper rifles, Chair Jin expressed concern, asking, "Is there any reason for such rifles to be smuggled in at this time?"

Threats involving former special forces personnel have also been raised. Jin stated that there are still assassination orders targeting candidate Lee. He explained, "There is a concept called a 'standing order,' which means that once an order is given, it remains valid until it is canceled. We have already received reports that agents who have been discharged from the military but still maintain connections with the military are currently under such standing orders."
