Dongjak District in Seoul is launching initiatives to boost the local economy in conjunction with the '2025 Seoul International Garden Expo,' which will be held at Boramae Park starting May 22. This agreement was established to inject vitality into the commercial area near the expo venue, where about 1,800 stores are concentrated, and to support market expansion for local small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners. As approximately 10 million visitors are expected during the expo period, the economic ripple effect on the local economy is anticipated to be significant.

Under the agreement, the district plans to issue a special 5 billion won worth of Dongjak Sarang Gift Certificates, which can be used in the areas of Sindaebang 1-dong, Sindaebang 2-dong, Daebang-dong, and Sangdo 3-dong near the expo venue to promote local consumption. The certificates will be offered at a 10% discount rate and will be available for use from June 4 to October 20, the scheduled issuance and usage period.

Additionally, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will plan and operate mutual growth programs such as discount events, while the district is currently recruiting stores to offer discounts to visitors participating in the 'Garden Tour' during the expo period. Participating stores will be actively promoted through the production of separate leaflets and the distribution of stickers.

The Foodservice Industry Association will also encourage voluntary participation from nearby businesses and actively cooperate in managing service quality at these establishments to enhance visitor satisfaction.

Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak District, stated, "Through this agreement, I hope the Seoul International Garden Expo will become a meaningful event not only for visitors but also for the entire local commercial community," adding, "We will continue to pursue various policies to revitalize the local economy in cooperation with small business owners."
