Jeollanam-do is accelerating the activation of "Jeonnam Blue Workation," which allows people to enjoy both work and vacation simultaneously, by utilizing the region's abundant natural environments such as islands, oceans, and forests, as well as local infrastructure, in celebration of "May Jeonnam Visit Month."

The workation programs, which can be enjoyed with special discounts during the Visit Month, began in Yeosu in 2023 and have since expanded to eight cities and counties after 2024, including Suncheon, Naju, Goheung, Hampyeong, Haenam, Jindo, and Gurye, each operated to reflect the unique characteristics of their respective regions.

The workation shared offices and accommodations in Yeosu are located in places where participants can enjoy views of Yeosu's islands and sea, allowing them to work and relax in a new environment. Various experience programs are also available, including the marine cable car and Yeosu Art Land.

In Suncheon, a garden workation has been prepared against the backdrop of Suncheonman National Garden, where participants can choose between the glamping-style "Cabin House" and the hanok stay "Suncheonman Ecovillage." A variety of programs are offered, such as streamside walks and guided garden tours.

In Naju, a tranquil traditional house adjacent to Naju Hyanggyo has been transformed into a workation space. Participants can also enjoy a leisurely time with a local trip on the Naju-eupseong electric rickshaw.

In Goheung, the workation program is centered around the Nanum Training Center, which commemorates Marianne and Margaret, offering programs that honor the spirit of volunteerism in Sorokdo and allow participants to experience the relaxed atmosphere of Goheung's coastal villages.

In Gurye, participants can enjoy both work and relaxation at Ssangsanjae, a unique venue designated for special events, as well as at resorts and The K Jirisan Hotel near Jirisan Mountain, while experiencing a stay in a traditional hanok.

In Jindo, a workation program combines visits to Sambyeolcho Park, buknori (traditional drum) experiences, and coffee workshops, blending tradition and modernity. Participants can also experience staying in a traditional hanok at a park that reflects the history of Sambyeolcho.

At the Haenam Oceano Campground, a special space is provided for working with the sea as a backdrop through a campervan workation program, with additional experiences such as free bicycle rentals and kayaking available.

In Hampyeong, workation programs are operated at Dolmeori Beach Campground and resort, allowing participants to work while enjoying views of the sea.

Shim Woojeong, Director of Tourism at Jeollanam-do, stated, "We plan to support participants so that they can enjoy both work and vacation by offering accommodations and experience programs that highlight the unique charm of each region. Moving forward, we will continue to discover various region-specific programs and systematically prepare multifaceted promotional marketing efforts so that Jeollanam-do becomes a hub for both work and leisure."

The workation programs are operated for either two nights and three days or three nights and four days, excluding weekends. Participants can receive a discount of 100,000 won per night, which is approximately 50% off the regular price. The programs are open not only to employees of companies based outside Jeonnam and sole proprietors, but also to government and local government officials.
