On-site Visit to Outstanding Companies in the Regional Industry Promotion Support Project
The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology announced on May 13 that it had visited Haechetech, the only domestic fabless company specializing in 3D magnetic sensor ICs.
Director Youngshin Kim visited the site to inspect key products and equipment, and held a communication meeting with Seongmin Choi, CEO of Haechetech.

Founded in 2017, Haechetech is a fabless semiconductor sensor IC company located in the Ochang Industrial Complex in Cheongju, Chungbuk Province. The company develops, markets, and outsources production of more than 20 types of semiconductor sensor ICs under its own brand, including geomagnetic sensors (electronic compass ICs), magnetic field sensors, and temperature and humidity sensors, supplying them to major electronics manufacturers both domestically and internationally.
In addition, through the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Regional Specialized Industry Promotion + R&D project, Haechetech succeeded in developing a fifth-generation geomagnetic sensor IC for mobile devices to enable electronic compass functionality. Since last year, the company has been supplying these sensors to major domestic and international mobile phone manufacturers.
Haechetech is also contributing to the development of semiconductor sensor processing technology and the establishment of a domestic supply chain. The company collaborates with semiconductor foundries and test houses in the Chungbuk region to supply various semiconductor sensor ICs, and has worked with local post-processing companies to build infrastructure for producing specialized magnetic sensors and to localize related materials.
Based on its proprietary technology, Haechetech’s annual sales increased from 5.2 billion KRW in 2021 to 11.5 billion KRW in 2023, and to 16.2 billion KRW in 2024.
Director Youngshin Kim stated, "I strongly felt the need to support regional innovation-leading companies," and added, "We will continue to do our best to support technology development (R&D) for SMEs and foster regional specialized industries, so that outstanding local SMEs can secure core technologies and contribute to revitalizing the regional economy."
