This crackdown targets approximately 16,300 gift certificate-affiliated merchants in Gumi City, and will include a comprehensive inspection of merchant registration details and actual business operations.

The main inspection items include: ▲ false registration of affiliated merchants ▲ operation of businesses in restricted industries ▲ accepting gift certificates without selling goods ▲ refusal of payment and discrimination against cash, as well as other illegal distribution activities.

The city, together with the operating agency NICE Information & Telecommunication Co., Ltd., will organize four joint inspection teams to conduct on-site crackdowns.

First, the city plans to enhance the effectiveness of the crackdown by prioritizing investigations of suspicious merchants identified and analyzed through the abnormal transaction detection system.

In addition, monitoring through citizen reports will be conducted in parallel. The city is operating a "Illegal Distribution Citizen Report Center" at both the Job and Economy Division and the Gumi Love Gift Certificate Customer Center on a regular basis.

For merchants found to have violated regulations as a result of the crackdown, the city will impose administrative measures such as recommendations for correction, cancellation of merchant registration, recovery of unjust gains, and fines. Depending on the severity of the violation, referral for police investigation will also be considered.

Park Younghee, head of the Job and Economy Division, stated, "The Gumi Love Gift Certificate is an important tool for promoting local consumption and supporting small business owners," and added, "We will thoroughly block illegal distribution to enhance the credibility of the gift certificates and create an environment where citizens can use them with confidence."
