Jeonnam Province is conducting the '2025 First Half Regular Inventory Survey' in accordance with the Special Accounting Office Regulations for Grain Management, targeting government grain storage warehouses and processing plants until the 20th.

The government-managed grain inventory survey is conducted twice a year to accurately determine the inventory of government-managed grain and to prevent incidents such as errors or illegal outflows that may occur during the inventory management process.

This inventory survey covers a total of 316,000 tons of grain stored in 949 warehouses and 25 processing plants within the province. The survey is being conducted as a full census, including government grain currently in transit.

The survey teams consist of municipal and county officials as well as private sector experts, and related organizations such as the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service and the Korea Grain Association are also participating.

During the survey process, Jeonnam Province will comprehensively inspect the quantity in storage, the quality of the grain, and the safety of storage facilities. For rice storage warehouses and processing plants, the focus will be on verifying whether handovers have taken place and whether they match the processing instructions.

In last year's survey, 18 warehouses were found to have quality concerns, 11 had poor environmental maintenance, and 16 had improper stacking, and corrective measures were taken. This year, warehouses suspected of illegal distribution based on the inventory survey results will undergo a detailed investigation. Warehouses with signs of grain deterioration or poor management will be subject to measures such as the transfer or release of grain. In addition, timely fumigation will be carried out in response to rising temperatures to ensure thorough pest control in warehouses.

Park Sangmi, Director of the Agricultural and Food Distribution Division of Jeonnam Province, stated, "The government-managed grain inventory survey is not only to determine inventory levels but also to prevent incidents in advance," adding, "We will continue to do our best to improve the quality of government grain through regular inventory surveys and safety inspections."
