At a regular press briefing that day, a police official said, "We will review whether the Democratic Party could be charged with spreading false information."
The Democratic Party continues to claim that there is credible information about the importation of Russian-made rifles. Cho Seungrae, head of public relations for the Central Election Countermeasures Committee, told reporters at the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul the previous day, "As threats of terrorism against candidate Lee continue to escalate, we have formed a counter-terrorism response team led by Kim Minseok, the standing election committee chairman." Kim stated, "We have also received reports of terrorism involving firearms and explosives, so we cannot afford to be complacent."
Regarding the Democratic Party's claim that there is a spy within the security team attempting to assassinate Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae Myung, the police said, "We have no knowledge of such matters." When asked whether the Democratic Party had requested an identity check, the police responded, "No."
The Dong-A Ilbo reported that the Democratic Party had received a tip-off about a spy within candidate Lee's security team and subsequently re-examined all resumes.
